How we can help

Different questions need different kinds of help

What clients need varies: new evidence, a way to make sense of what they already have or a direction the market will back.

We shape the work around what’s missing, using research, strategy and content as needed.

Five kinds of help

Choose an area to explore

These are not fixed packages or stages in a process. A project might focus on one area or connect several around the same objective.

Original research

Evidence designed around the question

When an important question cannot be answered from the evidence available, we design research around the decision, proposition or market story it needs to support.

The evidence needs to withstand scrutiny and point to a clear next step.

Useful when

  • You need evidence to understand a market, audience or problem.
  • A product, proposition or assumption needs testing against real experience.
  • You need a credible point of view in an area where existing evidence is too broad, dated or inconclusive.

What we can do

We frame the questions, assess what is already known and design the right mix of quantitative and qualitative research. We can reach broad consumer and business audiences as well as senior, specialist or harder-to-reach groups.

In the analysis, we look for the patterns, tensions and differences that explain what the evidence means for the original question.

What it can produce

  • A proprietary evidence base
  • Audience, customer or market insight
  • Segmentation, personas or positioning guidance
  • Recommendations for a decision or next step
  • A foundation for content, a benchmark or an ongoing program

Research-led content

Give the evidence a clear argument and a useful life

Compelling content does not need to begin with a new study. It can start with an existing dataset, interviews, specialist expertise, events or research that is sitting unused or has only been used once.

We find the argument, determine what the audience needs and develop content without stretching the evidence beyond what it can support.

Useful when

  • You have valuable research, data or expertise but no clear market narrative.
  • A substantial piece of evidence needs adapting for different audiences or uses.
  • You need credible content that can support authority, engagement or commercial conversations over time.

What we can do

We assess the source material, identify the strongest stories and work out where further evidence or context is needed. Research, analysis and editorial development stay connected so the narrative does not drift as the work moves into different formats.

The result might be one substantial publication or a set of connected assets built around the same evidence.

What it can produce

  • Flagship reports and executive briefings
  • Articles, presentations and audience-specific analysis
  • Sales and event materials grounded in the evidence
  • Audio, video or data-led formats where they add something useful
  • An editorial plan that extends the value of existing work

Benchmark or index

Create a framework people can use and return to

A benchmark or index turns evidence into a consistent way to compare organizations, markets or levels of maturity, so the audience can see where they stand.

Repeated over time, the same framework can show how a market is changing and build an evidence base that grows with each wave.

Useful when

  • You want to define what progress or maturity looks like in an emerging area.
  • Customers need a credible way to compare their position with peers.
  • You have a long-term positioning goal to highlight with market data.

What we can do

We define the dimensions that matter, design the supporting research and build a scoring or classification model that can be explained clearly. We test what the framework can legitimately show and make its limits visible rather than making claims the evidence cannot support.

The framework can then be applied to the market as a whole, adapted into a diagnostic or extended through later research waves.

What it can produce

  • A proprietary index, benchmark or maturity model
  • Sector, regional or audience comparisons
  • A customer diagnostic or assessment tool
  • A flagship report and supporting content
  • A framework for tracking change over time

Ongoing research or content program

Build on the evidence instead of starting again

For some goals, research that describes one moment in time isn’t enough. Markets move, evidence accumulates and audiences need a reason to return.

We help create programs that connect recurring research, market intelligence and editorial activity so each piece builds on what came before.

Useful when

  • You need to track a market or audience as it changes.
  • A recurring audience product needs a clear editorial position and dependable evidence.
  • A global study needs to work across regions, sectors or business priorities.
  • Useful research, interviews and market inputs exist but are not connected or reused consistently.

What we can do

We help define the program, cadence and evidence model, then support the research, analysis and content needed to keep it working. That can include repeated studies, continuing interviews, market monitoring and new analysis of an accumulating evidence base.

We can also help establish the editorial and research controls that make a recurring program more consistent and easier to extend.

What it can produce

  • A recurring research study or report series
  • A weekly or monthly intelligence product
  • An accumulating evidence base and reusable source material
  • Regional, sector or audience-specific editions
  • A research and content operating model

Strategy or advisory support

Use evidence to choose a direction

The starting point may be a decision rather than a new study or publication.

We combine internal knowledge with focused market, audience, competitor or expert evidence, then work through what it means for the choices in front of the team.

Useful when

  • You need to decide which markets, audiences or opportunities deserve attention.
  • Internal assumptions need testing against competitors, peers or outside expertise.
  • A proposition or message needs evidence behind it.
  • An ambition needs turning into priorities, options or a practical roadmap.

What we can do

We structure what the organization already knows, identify the gaps that matter and gather enough external evidence to test the available choices. Depending on the question, that may involve market sizing, competitive analysis, focused interviews, benchmarking or a targeted review of existing evidence.

We then translate the findings into options, implications and recommendations, including the questions that remain unresolved.

What it can produce

  • An investment or prioritization framework
  • Market, competitor or opportunity analysis
  • A roadmap or set of strategic options
  • Positioning, proposition or messaging guidance
  • Executive recommendations and decision materials

How the work can combine

Three common combinations

There is no fixed sequence.

01

Start with a question

A decision or proposition needs stronger evidence. Original research can test the assumptions, while strategy or advisory support turns the findings into choices, priorities or positioning.

Original research + Strategy or advisory support
02

Work from existing evidence

Research, data or expertise already exists but is fragmented or underused. Analysis and research-led content can turn it into a clear argument, while an ongoing program can keep applying it to new questions and audiences.

Research-led content + Strategy or advisory support + Ongoing research or content program
03

Build a repeatable asset

A client needs something more durable than one report or campaign. A benchmark can create a common framework, while recurring research and content keep it current.

Benchmark or index + Original research + Research-led content + Ongoing research or content program
